Byron Welsh is a Christian singer, songwriter, and musician. As the youngest of eight children, he grew up in a humble environment. Byron’s father was a Pastor who later became a world evangelist. This provided Byron with ample opportunities to sing and play music across Newfoundland and in other parts of Canada and the United States.

As a teenager, writing poetry and song lyrics became Byron’s passion and he taught himself how to play guitar and piano to help enhance this new love. He was a part of the “Christian Rock” era in the late 80s and was influenced by bands such as Stryper, Holy Soldier, and Petra. During his university years, Byron was the lead singer of the band Broken and performed many concerts and youth events on a regular basis throughout Newfoundland.

Byron is known to write, speak, and sing from his heart. He knows what it is to feel the brokenness of life. In November 2007 his then 5-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. And, in March of the following year, his sister was tragically killed. He says, ”My lyrics are deeply anchored to my personal life, yet are universal and compelling to all.” Two of his songs came from these personal tragedies: "Song For Dianne" produced by Peter Daniel Newman (Newmaniac Studio) in 2010 and "I'll Love You Now" from his new record released in 2020. His songs and music are known for being a unique blend of Christian Contemporary, Country, and Soft Rock that offer hope and peace for a world in need.

In April of 2019, he took a trip to Springdale, Newfoundland to join forces with Clint Curtis - producer, songwriter, and musician from Sevenview Studios. where he began tracking his album "Somewhere It Is Summer," a collection of stories from his past & present that led him on the path he walks now.

Music has played and is still playing, a huge part of Byron’s life. It’s what brought him and Jennifer, his wife of over 25 years, together. It’s one of the major things he does with his three kids, all of whom are very musical. Whether singing in church, on stage at shows, or in-studio, Byron’s music presents the truth of God’s love - it’s honest and it’s transparent.
